As you are aware Shree Ganeshpura Temple at Katipalla situated at a distance of about 25 Kms north of Mangalore, is a well known Hindu religious place. Ever since its inception in 1988, it has grown into a big centre of spiritual awakening and cultural renaissance. It has been attracting devotees from all over the state. The main deity of the temple, Shree Mahaganapathi has become the Siddi Vinayaka here fulfilling the desires of every one who comes into contact with Him.

The residents of Katipalla and neighbouring villages were originally the displaced people from Panambur, Thannirbavi and Padukodi Villages. Thanks to their sacrifices the New Mangalore Port come into existence and today we are proud to say, that it has developed into one of the fine ports of India. But Surprisingly the displaced persons are deprived of many basic needs including a place for public worship. At last in the year 1982 due to their incessant toil their ambition was realised. The Karnataka Govt. Granted a site of 150x150 for the construction of temple. By the grace of God, the Mahaganapathi Temple become a reality in the year 1988. Sri Sri Sri Vishweshwara Theertha Swamiji Pejavara Mutt and Shri Gopalakrishna Asranna of Kateel graced the opening ceremony and blessed the devotees. It is history now. The temple activities have been going on successfully since 1988.
